Do you want your dinnerware that feels a little more personal? I can create a custom handmade and hand-painted set that includes coordinated
plates, bowls, and mugs, with your favorite colors, patterns, and ideas in mind.
No machine can copy the warmth, beauty, and uniqueness of a human touch.
My pieces are not flashy. They are timeless, beautiful, and functional pieces that you can use in everyday life.
I carve and paint each piece while the clay is still soft. The colors, textures, and patterns gently sink into the surface, creating a finish that feels naturally woven into the pottery.
From the first spin of the wheel to the final glaze, no two pieces are ever the same. Each one carries a moment, a feeling, and a bit of my heart in its design.
My handmade pieces are made to bring warmth, joy, and love into your everyday life.
Hi, I’m Eileen, and Hart and Soul Pottery is a little piece of my heart. It started right here in my home studio a few years ago. After spending more than 30 years as a sweater designer, I realized I needed to fill a creative space that had gone quiet in my life.
Pottery brought that joy back to me.
The love for detail, texture, creativity, and the soft imperfections — they all reminded me of the threads and stitches I used to play with. But pottery also taught me something new: patience.
Some pieces start right in my hands; there is no wheel, just clay and patience. Hand building gives every piece its own unique and soft, organic shape.
For certain designs, I use molds to help form a smooth, even base. It’s a helpful way to keep the shape consistent, especially for pieces that need clean edges or matching sizes.
Most of my work starts here. I shape each piece on the wheel, guiding the clay carefully until it finds its form.
Slip casting uses liquid clay poured into plaster molds to make lighter, delicate pieces. After they dry, I smooth, paint, and glaze them by hand to keep that handmade touch intact.
The secret is our Hand Pulled Handles. Yes, at Hart and Soul Pottery, every mug is fitted with a hand-pulled handle, shaped directly from soft clay and formed to match that exact mug. This isn’t something pressed from a mold or attached later; it’s made in one flowing motion, by hand, with care.
Each pull lets me adjust the following:
• Curve
• Thickness
• Angle
That’s why the handle feels comfortable and balanced when you lift it. The joint is stronger, the grip is smooth, and it feels like it fits perfectly in your hand.
When it comes to handmade pottery, the difference is in the details you can feel.
